Highlights from WIRE's first Meet and Greet - 9 October

With flyers, pin badges and optimism the WIRE board arrived at IRRV annual conference. This event is always earmarked in the calendar as ‘not-to-miss’ as it is so well attended by experts across the industry, so what better opportunity to host a Meet and Greet event and launch the new look Women in Revenues and Enforcement.

During the lunch break on the second day, we set ourselves up and eagerly awaited the floods of people…or potentially no one at all! (We did have visions of it being like a birthday party nobody attended and sadly blowing out the candles alone.) Thankfully, it was nothing of the sort and we had the pleasure of chatting with lots of colleagues and friends, old and new. Our board members proudly shared everything we have been up to in the last few months to drive WIRE forward, our vision for the future of the group and ultimately why you need to be involved!

We had cautiously ordered 60 pin badges to give out to those signing up as members and we had run out before the Meet and Greet even wrapped up. It was really encouraging to have so much support and interest in what we are doing, and this has only heightened our commitment to make this a group worthy of its members. The level of interest also reconfirmed what we already knew – our mission is a much needed one with so many people sharing with us their experiences and challenges as women within the industry but also their desire to want to be part of the changing tide.

As President/Vice President and Co-Founders we have been talking about forming this group for a good number of years and it feels so rewarding seeing it all come together. We would just like to extend our thanks to the board for dedicating their time and efforts and seeing the value in what we are collectively trying to achieve. We’d also like to thank the IRRV for their support in facilitating the Meet and Greet event.

Looking ahead, we are not letting the grass grow. We have pulled together a list of short, medium and long term goals to keep the momentum going, so that those who have shown an interest in being part of WIRE start to see action. If you signed up as a member you will be receiving communications shortly with more detail on our plans and what you can expect to see from us in the near future. We are so excited to share this journey with you all!
